Sensitive Exams and Clinical Chaperones
At Student Health Services, we are committed to providing high-quality care by establishing clear standards that protect both patients and healthcare providers. To that end, Student Health Services has a protocol of utilizing a Clinical Chaperone for sensitive examinations and procedures.
A Clinical Chaperone is a trained medical staff member of Student Health Services who serves as a professional witness and provides support to both patients and healthcare providers. The presence of a Chaperone helps ensure that sensitive examinations and procedures are conducted in a safe, respectful. and consistent manner. A chaperone will always be present during sensitive examinations.
Patients and healthcare providers may request a Clinical Chaperone at any point during a medical visit.
