Spring 2020 Weekly Wellness Class Schedule

Students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend the free weekly wellness classes.

Email chew@scranton.edu to be placed on a group email to receive notifications about room changes and/or cancellations about the class you are interested in attending.

Mondays

Mindfulness Meditation, 5:00pm. – 5:30pm., 127 (LSC) Loyola Science Center (held during the fall and spring semesters)

Tuesdays

Mindfulness Meditation, 5:00pm. – 5:30pm., 127 (LSC) Loyola Science Center (held during the fall and spring semesters)
Yoga Flow, 12:15.pm.- 12:45.pm., Royals Room in the Byron (held during the fall and spring semesters)
POUND, 6:00pm.- 6:45.pm., Royals Room in the Byron 

Wednesdays

Energizing Yoga, 6:00pm. – 7:00pm., Royals Room in the Byron (held during the fall and spring semesters)
Weigh in Wednesdays, 9:00am. - 4:00pm., CHEW (TDC 205K), AMH (1st Floor lobby)  and the Leahy Family Clinic in McGurrin Hall

Thursdays

Energizing Yoga, 5:00pm. – 6:00pm, Royals Room in the Byron (held during the fall and spring semesters)

Fridays

Gentle Yoga, 12:15.pm. – 12:45.pm., Royals Room in the Byron
Classes begin the second week of the semester and run through "dead" week, the week before finals.

Energizing Yoga: This class is for experienced students as well as beginners with a higher fitness level. Breath is emphasized throughout this practice. The class includes sun salutations, standing, seated and reclining poses as well as some balancing poses. Relaxation closes the class.

Thursdays 5pm – 6pm in the Royals Room in the Byron

Gentle Yoga: This class is perfect for the beginner or someone who prefers a slower yoga class. Basic yoga poses will be taught.  Breathing practices and relaxation techniques will be presented to achieve an inner sense of wellbeing. Instruction will include simple alignment techniques to cultivate comfortable posture and internal strength.

Mindfulness Meditation: This half hour class provides the fundamentals of Mindfulness Mediation which is shown to reduce anxiety, depression and to improve well-being. Through increased awareness of body sensations, thoughts and emotions and a reduction in stress sensations these practices are intended to enhance the participant’s ability to recognize and respond to the stressors of everyday life.
Through meditation and awareness exercises, we will explore this practical time-proven approach to living fully in the present moment.

POUND: POUND® is designed for all fitness levels and provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable, and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.
