Weekly Wellness Class Schedule
CHEW'S Spring 2025 Weekly Wellness Classes begins Wednesday, January 22nd. Check out the class locations on RoyalSync, IM Leagues or email chew@scranton.edu. Drop-in classes taught by professional instructors to promote stress relief and increase strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Classes are free and open to students, staff and faculty.
Weekly Wellness Classes Descriptions:
Fall Semester Offerings: (please note some new locations)
* Employee only class: Light Weights & Abs & Pickleball
Mindfulness Meditation- Monday 5 pm- Weiss Hall Well-being Room
Instructor: Lisa Rigau MS, BSN, RN, Healthy Lifestyle Management
This half-hour class provides the fundamentals of Mindfulness Meditation is shown to reduce anxiety and depression and to improve well-being. Through increased awareness of body sensations, thoughts and emotions these practices are intended to enhance the participant’s ability to recognize and respond to the stressors of everyday life with greater skill and resilience. Through meditation and awareness practices, we will explore this practical and scientifically research approach to living fully in the present moment.
Drop-in Pickleball*- Open hours for Pickleball on your own. Tuesdays 12-1

Join us for America’s fastest-growing sport and play with colleagues! In collaboration with Rec Sports, drop-in Pickleball will be held on Tuesdays from 12-1 p.m. in the Byron Gym courts for staff and faculty. No experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome. Please email chew@scranton.edu if you are interested in being on the Pickleball email list.
Calm & Strong Yoga- Tuesday 5pm- Royals Room Byron Gym
Instructor: Miranda Miaris
Calm & Strong Yoga is an all-inclusive class designed for every Body with no experience necessary, tenured students always welcome! In this supportive, judgment-free space, you explore the union of mind and body through steady movement, breathwork, and grounding practices. You’ll build physical strength and mental clarity while reconnecting with your inner balance, both on and off the mat.
Lunchtime Yoga Flow- Wednesdays 12:15pm -12:45 pm- Weiss Hall Well-being Room

Light Weights & Abs*- Wednesdays 5pm- Royals Room Byron Gym *Staff & Faculty only class
Instructor: Maribeth Smith
An upbeat group fitness class combining total body toning and aerobic exercise using light weights and resistance bands. Have fun while burning calories and toning your muscles. Please wear comfortable workout attire and ssneakers. Light weights are provided.
Empowered Yoga- Thursdays 5pm -5:45pm- Royals Room Byron Gym
Instructor: Miranda Miaris
Empowered Yoga Flow (Thursdays) is a gentle Vinyasa-style class that blends mindful movement with breath to cultivate inner strength, presence, and calm. Through fluid transitions and intentional pacing, this practice enhances flexibility, balance, and self-awareness. All levels are welcome. This class is perfect for those seeking a rejuvenating and empowering yoga experience that nurtures both body and soul.
Walk for Wellness- Fridays 12:15-12:45pm- Meet on TDC Patio (next to Green). Inclement weather- meet in the Byron Gym.
Enjoy a walk along the Royal Mile or, in bad weather, inside the Byron Gym. This weekly event supports physical and social wellness which is perfect for getting together and meeting new people.
