Kinesiology (KNES)
Undergraduate students are required to have background clearances.
Clearances are required for all:
- Sophomore/2nd year
- Juniors/3rd year
- Seniors/4th + year
Clearances are due the first day of the academic year/Fall semester.
Clearance information is available at the following:
- Freshman/1st year - No clearances required
- Sophomore/2nd year - PA State Police clearance and the PA Child Abuse clearance only.
There is a fee for the child abuse clearance in subsequent years.
F.B.I fingerprint clearance and Castlebranch are not required.
These clearances are submitted to the department office (ELH 710), or they can be emailed to maryann.capone@scranton.edu.
- Junior/3rd year - PA State Police clearance, the PA Child Abuse clearance, the F.B.I clearance (fingerprinting required), and first-aid CPR/AED certification (including First-Aid and adult, child, and infant CPR/AED).
All are submitted to Castlebranch. There is a fee for Castlebranch and the F.B.I fingerprinting.
- Senior/4th + year - PA State Police clearance, the PA Child Abuse clearance, and the F.B.I clearance (fingerprinting required). All are submitted to Castlebranch. There is a fee for Castlebranch and the F.B.I fingerprinting.
The State Police clearance and the child abuse clearance fees should be waived by the state of PA for volunteers. Students must allow time for these to be processed, therefore, it is imperative that students begin the application as soon as possible. Always click volunteer and if it requests a place that is not listed, click other and/or type in University of Scranton.

- Once the registration for fingerprints is complete, you can take the registration to a local IdentoGo site. One is located inside the Steamtown Marketplace on Lackawanna Avenue.
