Meet the Candidates

These are your candidates for the 2025-2026 Student Government elections. The election will be held via RoyalSync on Tuesday, April 8 from 8:00am – 8:00pm. All candidates are listed below for you to read more about them.

Morgan Ryan and Connor Farrington

Morgan Ryan is a sophomore advertising major from Woodbridge, NJ. She has served on Student Government as a Class of 2027 Senator and member of the Campus Life & Dining Committee since the fall of her first year, before becoming Chair of the committee this past August. She has worked hard to bring student concerns to the attention of Dining Services, helped to charter several clubs, and represented the Student Senate on the University Governance Council. Outside of Student Government, she is involved in the Aquinas, the Scrantones, and is an Orientation Assistant and Tour Guide. Connor Farrington is a sophomore double major in business analytics and accounting from Warren Hills, NJ. He has been a Residential Senator on Student Government since February of his first year, working on the Campus Life & Dining Committee and the University Governance Council. He is a Tour Guide, Orientation Team Leader, member of the Business Honors Program, and involved in Liva Arts Company, FBLA, and the Scrantones. Together, Morgan and Connor are dedicated to improving the student experience at the University of Scranton. Their passions as student advocates include healthy and inclusive dining options, accessibility to campus resources, making Student Government more approachable, fostering an inclusive campus community, encouraging students to get involved, and ensuring everyone’s voices are heard. They would be honored to serve as your next Student Government President & Vice President!

Michael Nicotera

Michael Nicotera

Michael Nicotera is an economics and philosophy double-major with a minor in leadership through BLDR. He is a junior student dedicated to working to bridge the gaps between the business school and CAS through more dialogue and community-building!

Deanna Holbert
Deanna Holbert
Deanna Holbert is a third-year Electrical Engineering major from Simpson, PA. She is actively involved in several organizations, including IEEE, IEEE-HKN, and CSA, and is a proud first-generation student who has served as a guide mentor in THR1VE. Outside of academics, she participates in intramural softball and enjoys being active, as well as expressing her creativity through painting and drawing. She loves connecting with others and meeting new people. Previously, Deanna was a Commuter Senator in Student Government, where she advocated for commuter students. Now, she's eager to broaden her impact and represent her entire class!

                                        Adriana Valenti

     Adriana Valenti

Adriana Valentin is currently a Philosophy and Communications double major on the Pre-Law track running for a class of 2027 senate seat. Outside of the classroom she is a Peer Health Educator for The Center of Health Education and Wellness where she learned collaboration skills and built connections with the student body. As a senator she hopes to advocate for her peers and help create change to strengthen the Scranton community.

Kaitlyn Johnson
Kaitlyn Johnson is running for re-election as a Class of 2027 Senator! She is a business communications major from Long Island, NY. Outside of Student Government, she is also involved with USPB as a Publicity Co-chair, serves as a THR1VE First-Generation Student Coordinator, the president-elect for Men and Women for Octaves, a member of Royal Harmony, a Social Media Intern for the Center for Student Engagement, and is the Career Relations Intern with the Center for Career Development. This year, Kaitlyn has served as a member of the Athletics & Programming committee and the University Governance Council. She hopes to continue serving as an advocate for her peers on Student Government and would appreciate your vote!

   Allison Slovak

    Allison Slovak

Allison Slovak is a sophomore majoring in International Language-Business and Mathematics from Washington, NJ. She currently serves as a Residential Senator in the Student Senate and is excited to run for Class of 2027 Senator in order to focus more efforts on improvements for her fellow sophomores. She is currently on the Academics and Scholastic Affairs committee. Outside of Student Government, she is involved in the Aquinas, SJLA, Christians for the Common Good, Campus Ministry, the Philosophy Society, and OSSS tutoring. Vote on April 9th to "Bring Slovak Back" and better than ever to Student Government!

 

Anya Kelly

Anya Kelly

Anya Kelly is a rising junior running for the Class of 2027 senator of Student Government! She is a Middle Level Education Major with a concentration in ELA and is from Monroe, New York. Here are some extracurriculars that she is involved with at Scranton: Circle K Club, Kindness for Chemo, Irish Cultural Society, Piast Polish Society, and the Student Education Club (SECUS). She is currently a Senator for the Class of 2027 in Student Government and Chair of the Athletics & Programming Committee. She has also served as an Orientation Assistant (OA) for the Classes of 2028 and 2029 and as a student-athlete during 3 seasons: cross country in the fall, indoor track in the winter, and outdoor track in the spring.

Christopher Monda

Chris Monda is a Long Island, NY native who is passionate about serving his peers. He cares deeply about community service and helping those with needs greater than his own. In keeping with this, he aims to represent his peers in every way possible by listening to the voices of the Class of 2028 and enacting positive change.

Angelo Ledda III

Angelo Ledda III is a computer science and philosophy double major who wants to help the Scranton community. As a senator, he managed to listen to students' ideas and perspectives in order to improve the University of Scranton. He loves listening to fellow peers and implementing real changes that can help the daily lives of fellow Scranton students. He greatly enjoyed his experiences on student government and learned a lot from it. This led him to have a desire to re-run for a senator position in order to better the community even further. Furthermore, Angelo loved socializing and meeting many new people through his position on Student Government. He hopes to have those experiences again and make even more friends that he can help, leading to more improvements for the University of Scranton and its community.

 Myira Bruno is a first-year Political Science major with Legal Studies Concentration. She is also a member of Mock Trial, ALAS (Association for Latinx Students), and the Pre-Law Society. Wanting to advocate for her fellow peers, Myira will make it her priority to ensure that all voices across the Class of 2028 and the campus community are genuinely heard. She is devoted to fostering a supportive environment where students can respectively express their views and ideas. Have any concerns or suggestions for the university? Meet Dan Jacklinski, a humble and devoted freshman at the University of Scranton, running to become a Class of 2028 Senator for Student Government. Dan is committed to increasing student engagement and bringing so much spirit to our campus home. Dan is a Political Science/Philosophy double major with a concentration in legal studies. He is very focused on student advocacy, strong leadership, and open conversations between students and faculty. Dan’s passion for service is rooted in deep connections with people that come from all walks of life. He served as Class President of his senior class in high school, and learned many valuable leadership skills that have carried over into his first year of college. He’s currently a member of the SJLA honors program, Pre-Law Society, Ultimate Frisbee Team, and many other clubs here on campus. Learning from others and developing new skills has prepared Dan to take an active leadership role in representing the youngest class here on campus, the Class of 2028. With a strong foundation of leadership, service, and determination, Dan is so excited to serve as a Senator in the newest session of the University of Scranton’s Student Government. Elizabeth (Liz) Haney is a first year running for Senate of the Class of 2028. Liz is committed to being a representative and ensuring that each student's voice is heard. She is determined to make a positive impact on campus by working with faculty, staff and fellow students. Liz’s leadership skills will help her excel in this role as senator. She has strong communication and listening skills that will aid her in making sure the concerns and needs of the students and community are addressed and acted upon. With a passion for creating a more unified community at the University Liz is ready to become your next senator. Vote Liz for Senate!

Paige is a mathematics and history double major along with being in SJLA. She is eager to advocate for issues that directly impact the student body. Paige believes she would be a strong candidate for this role due to her active involvement across campus. As a track and cross country runner, she has gained valuable insight into the experiences of students involved in Division III sports. Additionally, Paige participates in intramural sports, which has expanded her understanding of recreational activities available to students. As a Royal Ambassador in Admissions, Paige has gained experience representing the university, engaging with prospective students, and enhancing their perception of Scranton. Through this role, she has developed strong public speaking skills and a deeper knowledge of university operations. These experiences would allow Paige to address issues and create meaningful projects within Student Government to improve the student experience. Currently, Paige serves as a College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Ambassador, where she works closely with university leadership to discuss academic concerns affecting CAS students. Her ability to engage in dialogue with peers and faculty members will enable her to be an effective liaison for students on the Student Government Senate. Additionally, Paige took over the role of 2028 Class Senator in Spring 2025, where she now serves on the Appropriations Committee. She is responsible for working on club budgets and meeting with the Career Center to address student needs and concerns. This experience shows she would be a good choice to continue as class senator next year. Paige is excited about the opportunity to continue to contribute to Student Government’s mission and make a lasting impact on the University of Scranton.

Molly Margolin is a freshman elementary education major looking to get re-elected for the 25/26 session as a Class of 2028 Senator. She served on University of Scranton's student government last year as a Class of 2028 Senator, working as a liaison for the Health Center and serving on the Campus Life and Dining Committee. In these roles she has heard student complaints about campus life and has been able to vocalize them to look for a change (including taking the tomato off the grilled cheese sandwiches). Molly hopes to continue her work on this committee as she works for more long-term projects regarding this committee. She has gotten involved in Rec. Sports as an intramural referee for soccer and basketball, Admissions as a Royal Ambassador, Liva Musical Theatre Company on crew, and SECEUS in college. Prior to college, she had multiple positions of leadership, including serving on her Student Council Executive Board as Secretary and being a Student Director for her high school's musical. From these past roles, understanding student government, and knowing the campus and its students, she hopes you will re-elect her again to continue giving the Class of 2028 a voice!

Nevaeh Vazquez

Nevaeh Vazquez

Nevaeh is running for a residential senate seat for 2025-2026. Over the course of the 2024-2025 school year, she served as a class of 2028 senator. During her time as a class senator, she was the liaison for the UPD, helped with Street Sweep, Grocery Bingo, and voted to pass two clubs on campus. She wants to return back as a senator and continue to do what she can to help the school, but specifically, all those living on campus. Some ideas she has include providing a better meal plan to Resident Assistants, continuing to bridge the gab between the U and the UPD, and helping out with more events on campus. In addition to student government, Nevaeh is also an Orientation Assistant, the assistant stage crew manager for LIVA Arts Company, a Royal Ambassador, and more. Michael Zipay
Michael Zipay is a dedicated and passionate student running for Commuter Senator. Majoring in both Computer Science and Philosophy, Michael is committed to bridging the gap between academic excellence and student well-being. As a commuter student himself, he understands the unique challenges faced by those who travel to campus daily and is driven to create a more inclusive, supportive environment for them. Michael’s goal is to ensure that commuter students have a voice in all areas of campus life, from transportation to social opportunities. Known for his unwavering support of his peers, Michael is deeply invested in student causes and works tirelessly to make a positive impact on the student body. His unique combination of logical problem-solving skills from his Computer Science background and critical thinking from Philosophy equips him with a thoughtful, effective approach to leadership. Through dedication and a genuine desire to help others, Michael Zipay is ready to be the advocate commuter students deserve.

                                                    Serhii Kuzmin

Serhii Kuzmin
Serhii Kuzmin is an international student from Ukraine, currently pursuing dual majors in Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences. As a dedicated member of his academic community, Serhii is actively involved in leadership and advocacy, serving as a Senator for the Class of 2026 at the Student Government. His passion for creating positive experiences and driving meaningful change has led him to become an engaged member of multiple organizations, including Association for Computer Machinery (ACM), and the International Student Club (ISC). Serhii is deeply committed to making a difference, both in his academic journey and in the broader campus environment. With a strong foundation in technology and mathematics, he seeks to combine his expertise with his leadership roles to contribute to the university in impactful ways. Driven by a desire to foster a welcoming and innovative atmosphere for all students, Serhii continues to work toward creating a positive, inclusive environment for his peers.
