Fall Welcome 2020 - Schedule of Events
We are excited to welcome the Class of 2024 to the University! The University community has been hard at work preparing the campus for your arrival. In accordance with the Royals Safe Together plan, we ask that all students and guest be mindful of the provisions of the plan, including but not limited to:
- Face Coverings: Face coverings are required in all areas on campus both inside of buildings and outside of them and even when you are social distancing.
- Social Distancing: Maintain social distancing of at least six feet throughout campus whenever possible.
Please follow all campus signage and directives from University staff and student volunteers.
Saturday, August 15, 2020
8:00 AM - 6:00 PM • First-Year Move In
Various Residence Halls
Students living on campus are invited to arrive to campus on Saturday, August 15. Please refer to your move-in packet for arrival times and procedures. Student volunteers will be on hand to assist students and families with moving their belongings into the residence halls.
10:30 AM - 4:00 PM • Lunch
DeNaples Center Patio
Students and their guests are invited to enjoy a boxed lunch outside the DeNaples Center. Once students and guests receive their boxed lunch, we invite them to enjoy their meal at one of our campus green spaces.
1:00 PM - 7:00 PM • New Student Hospitality Tent
DeNaples Center Patio
All incoming students are invited to visit our hospitality tent on the Dionne Green to receive your Class of 2024 t-shirt, your University of Scranton class pin, and your 2 complimentary University of Scranton cloth face masks. Additionally, new students are invited to participate in our Class of 2024 photo collage project!
6:00 PM • Final Parent/Guest Departure
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM • Class of 2024 Dinner
DeNaples Center Patio
The Class of 2024 is invited to a picnic barbeque dinner on the DeNaples Center Patio. Students are invited to take their meals to a variety of campus green spaces.
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM • First Floor Meetings
Various Residence Halls
Students living on campus will meet with their floors and Resident Assistants to become acclimated to living on campus and to review important information and policies.
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM • Commuter Student Social
Zoom
Students commuting from home are invited to attend a social event just for commuter students. Students will meet other commuters and learn tips and tricks for navigating life at Scranton as a commuter student.
9:00 PM - 10:00 PM • BINGO
Dionne Green / Zoom
One of Scranton's favorite social activities, the University of Scranton Programming Board will host a live BINGO on the Dionne Green. All first-year students will receive a digital BINGO card in their Scranton.edu email account. Students can choose to bring a blanket to the Dionne Green and play in person or can play from the comfort their own residence. There will be BIG prize giveaways!

All incoming students are invited to visit to participate in a variety of team-building activities to get to know other members of their class. This highly interactive program will help you meet some of your first Scranton friends!
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM • Welcome Weekend Mass
Byron Center / Live Stream
Join the campus community in celebrating the welcome weekend mass with a special blessing of the Class of 2024 class banner. Limited seating will be offered in the Byron Recreational Center gym for students. The liturgy can also be viewed by students, parents, and families via live stream
