Courses
Overview
The Biology department offers courses in a wide variety of topics and approaches, from Molecular Biology, to Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. Biology majors take at least one course in Cellular, Genetics, Molecular, Organismal, and Population Biology study areas, thus providing them with a broad perspective of modern Biology.
Students are then free to choose their own sequence of courses based on their individual interests or career goals. Faculty advisors meet each individually with students each semester to help students identify and achieve their goals.
Our laboratory sections are capped at 16 to 20 students per section, allowing close personal interaction with our faculty. Students therefore gain valuable hands-on experience with modern laboratory techniques.
In addition to our traditional classroom-based course offerings, we offer courses that involve field study and travel. These give our students a unique insight into other environments and cultures, as well as gives them an appreciation of the global applications of the Biological Sciences.
