The Electric City Connection is an effort led by The University of Scranton,
Friends of The Poor Scranton, and
Scranton Tomorrow to provide fresh-made meals from area restaurants to low-income residents and support the local economy during the COVID-19 crisis. A $15 donation accepted through Scranton Tomorrow is used to purchase a gift card from a participating area business which is then distributed to a low-income resident in collaboration with the Friends of The Poor. Since its launch on March 20, the program has raised over
$56,000 funds from donations and a recently awarded
Scranton Area Community Foundation grant to equal over
3,800 meals!
