Clara Downey
Clara Downey is a prime candidate, up for re-election for a Class of 2023 Senate Seat. Clara is a sophomore political science and history student with a legal studies concentration and is extremely thrilled to be campaigning for such a wonderful organization on campus. Clara currently serves successfully as a Class of 2023 Senator. In addition to her senate seat, she also serves on both the Academic and Scholastic Affairs Committee, and the University Planning Committee. Outside of Student Government, Clara is an intern for the City of Scranton, and works with the Mayor’s Office, is a member of the Pre-Law Society, FANS, Political Science club, and many others. Clara remains involved. Through her hard work on Student Senate, committees, and on campus in every capacity, Clara has proven dedicated to serving her constituents, and advocating for their greatest needs. Clara is an ally, an activist, and everything in between for many groups including the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC, those of lower economic status, and so many more. She’s worked intensely on campaigns in her hometown and the surrounding areas specifically targeting hate crimes and microaggressions. That work has not stopped. With her bold, bright, and insanely driven agenda, Clara proves committed to not only addressing, but fixing very specific student climate concerns on campus, and hopes to continue doing so in Student Government this upcoming year.
