Council of Alumni Lawyers
The Council of Alumni Lawyers (CAL) seeks to advance the mission and reputation of The University of Scranton by providing the University and its students with an accessible and engaged network of alumni lawyers.
Members of the Council use their experience and education and leverage their professional networks to actively support faculty, staff and administrators in leading the educational and professional development of Scranton students who plan to enter the field of law.
The Council also serves as an example to the broader alumni community, encouraging greater involvement and investment in the University’s strategic priorities and student success.

Jonathan B. Schall, '13
CAL Chair
Jonathan Schall is a member of Fox Rothschild’s Corporate Department in the Philadelphia area, with extensive experience in health care and privacy law, including HIPAA compliance.
Before joining Fox Rothschild, Jonathan was in-house counsel for a nonprofit hospital system in Indiana. In that role, he advised leadership on legal, regulatory, and operational matters, served on the Institutional Review Board and Clinical Ethics Committee, and played a key role in the system’s COVID-19 response. He began with the organization as a legal extern while in law school. During law school, he also interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and with the Honorable Joy Flowers Conti of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Jonathan graduated from the University of Scranton’s Honors Program and earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as Managing Editor of the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy. He is a member of the American Health Law Association.
