In Fall 2016, Academic Service Learning was renamed as Community Based Learning.

Community Based Learning Timesheet

All PCPS Community Based Learning Contracts are due electronically by Monday, February 22, 2021.

All PCPS Community Based Learning Time Sheets are due to instructors by Monday, May 10, 2021.

Instructors must submit all PCPS Community Based Learning Time Sheets to the Dean's Office by Friday, May 14, 2021.

For Spring 2021, if your department has elected to complete community-based learning, it must be done virtually and the timesheets will be completed and submitted electronically. The above timesheet is a fillable PDF. Please enter the information on the PDF and have signatures completed via the Fill & Sign function in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Once you have the supervisor's signature, you should forward the form to your instructor, who will then sign and submit it to the PCPS Dean's Office.

Old instructions (prior to Fall 2020):

Time sheets now must be printed, completed with appropriate signatures, and submitted to your course instructor. Your course instructor will then submit them to the PCPS Dean's Office. We recommend that you also make a copy of your finished time sheet for your own records before submitting it to your course instructor.

Why does CBL connect to the PCPS mission statement?

The faculty, students and staff of the Panuska College of Professional Studies at The University of Scranton strive for two educational settings (community and traditional classroom). Community based learning courses offer students the opportunity in the “helping professions” to embrace and promote all that is fully human. Through class discussion, assignments and reflection statements,  students examine their own journey to become “men and women with and for others.”  The tenets of Jesuit Catholic pedagogy is to form “men and women of competence, conscience and compassionate commitment.” (The Characteristics of Jesuit Education, Fr. Peter Hans Kolvenbach, SJ.)
