Teacher of the Year
Dr. Cristen Walker: 2024 Teacher of the Year
Dr. Walker earned her B.S.N. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, her M.S.N. from Binghamton University, and her PhD in nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As a longstanding Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Walker has been teaching here at Scranton since 2014. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. She is the Undergraduate Program Director for the Nursing Department and Chairs the Department’s Curriculum Committee. Dr. Walker also serves as a member of several other University and College-wide committees, including the PCPS (now the Leahy College of Health Sciences) Curriculum and Assessment Committee and HPEC, the Health Professions Evaluation Committee. In addition, Dr. Walker also donates her time as a Family Nurse Practitioner volunteer for multiple free health clinics in the local area, including the Leahy Clinic here at the University.
Dr. Walker currently resides in Pittston Township with her husband Jeffrey of 34 years. They have two children, Carly and Ethan, both graduates of the University.
