Major: Psychology with a Physician Assistant Track
Class of 2023
Why did you choose Scranton?
I chose Scranton for its small class sizes that allowed us to get to know our classmates and professors. I was also attracted to the friendly environment and the great food!
What did you like about the psychology major?
I enjoyed all the psychology professors, and I appreciated how they cared and pushed for our success. The major provided a great understanding of the most useful psychology topics. Additionally, the major provided a unique Career Development Seminar that helped prepare us for our future.
Tell us about your activities in preparing for Physician Assistant school.
In summer 2022, I obtained direct care experience as a Physical Therapist Aide. In spring 2023, I was a Teaching Assistant in the Anatomy Lab where I helped hands-on with dissections and lab equipment.
What were your extracurricular activities?
I was a member of Psi Chi (International Honor Society in Psychology), the Health Professions Organization, and the Psychology Club. I also engaged in intramural volleyball and softball.
How did the psychology program prepare you for the real world?
The psychology program taught me how to communicate with others, prepare for graduate school and entry into the workforce, and essential research skills for my future.
What are you up to now?
I work as a Physical Therapist Aide to obtain more direct-care experience for Physician Assistant school. I am taking a gap year to prepare myself for a master’s program and to study for the PA-CAT.
