Competitive Speech and Debate Team

Participation on the Speech and Debate Team is an opportunity to make friends and travel to new places. Originally called ‘forensics,’ speech and debate events develop public speaking and interpretation skills. Both skill sets advance professional careers, community leadership, and personal goals.

Competitive events in public speaking include:

  • Persuasive
  • Extemporaneous
  • Impromptu
  • After-dinner speaking

Interpretation events include:

  • Poetry
  • Prose
  • Dramatic interpretation
  • Dramatic duo
  • Program of interpretation

Finally, the team competes in international policy debate.
