Alpha Delta Sigma is an organization that dates back to 1913, when the fraternity was founded at the University of Missouri. In 1969, Alpha Delta Sigma merged with Gamma Alpha Chi, a similar organization for women. Later, in 1973, Alpha Delta Sigma merged with the AAF.

An Honor Society founded in 1980, at The University of Scranton by Fr. Joseph Hamernick, SJ, to recognize students who excel in their general studies and especially in the field of communication. For senior-level Communication majors with at least a 3.5 grade point average and is in the top 10% of the graduating class.

The National Honor Society for communication majors founded in 1985 to honor and encourage high levels of scholarship and leadership in the field of communications. The University’s chapter was installed in 1999.

Path to Honors

Rho (ρ) Tau (τ) Eta (η), PTH, 'Path to Honor' , is exactly what the members of this honor society are doing.  This is the undergraduate student chapter of the Lambda Pi Eta and Alpha Delta Sigma National Honor Societies.  These students are proving to be the leaders of the department not only academically but by serving the University, department, community and fellow students.

To be invited to join this chapter, the undergraduate student must have:

  • GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Completed 24 credits at the University of Scranton

The student must also agree to complete service projects that will benefit the University, department, community and become a mentor to welcome new students to the department.
