Undergraduate Research Fair

Research as a High Impact Practice (rHIP)

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is pleased to announce the availability of funding to promote high-quality faculty-mentored experiences in research and scholarship for our undergraduate students. Proposals are expected to support new or ongoing faculty-student research projects that focus on the creation of an undergraduate research/scholarship experience for the student resulting in student learning outcomes, such as inquiry and analysis, critical and creative thinking, and foundations and skills for lifelong learning.

To this end, the proposal submitted should be a collaborative effort between the student and the faculty member, with the student providing a project description, and the faculty member providing specific information about potential learning outcomes.

Preference will be given to faculty/students who attended the Faculty-Student Research Fair - Now Name:  Student Opportunities in Academic Research (SOAR) Information Session, which is hosted by ORSP this year on  Tuesday, October 29, 2019.  All are encouraged to apply, and projects do not need to have developed as a result of the Information Session.

Although research project funding needs vary greatly between disciplines, we expect that the average award will be approximately $500. Requests that exceed that amount will require justification.

To apply for a rHIPaward, please submit an electronic proposal (4 double-spaced pages maximum) to by Wednesday, November 20, 2019 providing the following information:

1)Project Description including:

-Background and Significance

-Overview of the project that the student will perform

3)Brief description of the potential student learning outcomes associated with this project

Applications that do not meet these guidelines will not be considered.
