Nursing Education Simulation Center (NESC)

In alignment with the University of Scranton's Mission, Vision, and Values, the Nursing Education and Simulation Center fosters the development of evidence-based knowledge, skills and competencies needed for high-quality, patient centered care in all types of environments.

Students experience best practices for nursing education encouraged by organizations such as International Nurses Association of Clinical Simulation in Learning (INACSL) and The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and National League of Nursing (NLN)

The Faculty and staff of the NESC are committed to excellence in simulation by designing and implementing experiences that are evidence-based and foster collaboration and inclusion in alignment with the Healthcare Simulations Code of Ethics.

Why Simulation?

Simulation helps nursing students to acquire skills and manage real patient situations in a safe learning environment. Simulation in nursing offers several benefits by providing a controlled environment for students to learn and make mistakes without patient harm. Simulation enhances communication skills, teamwork and critical thinking. It also allows for skill refinement with repetitive practice, which may not be experienced in a real clinical setting with actual patients
