With the student’s permission, we can also provide you their client session forms, which summarize the topics covered during their writing sessions.  Likewise, if you have an outstanding writer, who you think would be a great addition to our team in The Writing Center, you can fill out the Tutor Referral form below, and we will follow-up with the student.

Class Presentations

If you have an upcoming paper, representatives from the Writing Center can visit your class and present a 10-15 minute overview of our mission and our services in order to address frequently asked questions. Our system statistics show that most students are connected with our services through classroom visits, and they are more likely to schedule an appointment after experiencing an in-class presentation.  To schedule a class presentation please email writing-center@scranton.edu.

Peer Review Day

Are you planning to offer a peer review day for an upcoming paper? If so, you can request that two or more of our writing consultants attend to offer additional feedback to your students and keep them on-task during class. To request writing consultants, email writing-center@scranton.edu

AI Discussions

The Writing Center Coordinator is able to meet with you one-on-one to discuss how students might be using ChatGPT to generate ideas, compose drafts, or edit existing text. We could also explore how it would respond to your current assignment prompts and how to approach potential revisions. If you are interested, we can even look at how ChatGPT might be integrated into your coursework to facilitate learning in different ways.

Accidental Plagiarism Remediation

Do you have a student who is struggling to synthesize, cite, and explain credible sources in a matter that is ethical and aligned with academic conventions? If so, feel free to refer them to our new Accidental Plagiarism Remediation sessions. This program consists of five one-on-one sessions designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to avoid accidental plagiarism. Each session features a about a specific topic related to source evaluation, information organization, ethical synthesis strategies, and the citation conventions of a specific format. However, we will closely collaborate with you to work on other topics or let you know when the student has completed the program. To refer a student, please email writing-center@scranton.edu
