Lauren S. Rivera

Lauren S. Rivera, Dean of Students

Lauren S. Rivera, J.D., M.Ed. serves the University as the Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students. Dean Rivera serves as the lead student advocate at the University. She and members of the Dean of Students staff often support students as they navigate challenges while at the University. Dean Rivera works closely with the Vice President for Student Life and is responsible for oversight of the Dean of Students Office, Center for Health Education & Wellness, Center for Student Engagement, Cross Cultural Centers (Jane Kopas Women’s Center & Multicultural Center), and Office of Residence Life. She also serves as the moderator for Student Government and is a Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the University.

Dean Rivera earned her Juris Doctor degree and Master of Education degree in College Student Affairs at The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to pursuing her joint degree in law and education, Dean Rivera graduated from Bucknell University with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Religion.

Shannon Murphy Fennie

Shannon Murphy Fennie, Assistant Dean of Students

Shannon Murphy Fennie, M.S., serves the University as the Assistant Dean of Students. A key student advocate, Shannon is responsible for providing support and overseeing initiatives designed to foster engagement of students, particularly marginalized student populations. As such, she works closely with the Center for Student Engagement and the Cross-Cultural Centers (Jane Kopas Women’s Center and Multicultural Center) as they provide programs and services to support a vibrant campus community. Additionally, Shannon coordinates leadership development initiatives within the Division of Student Life.

 Shannon received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton and went on to received her Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College. Shannon returned to the University of Scranton community after serving as the Assistant Director of Student Activities at both Canisius College and Saint Joseph’s University.

Kim Curran

Kim Curran, Student Life Coordinator

Kim serves the University as the Student Life Coordinator. In this role, Kim seeks to support students as they navigate challenges (i.e., social, academic, behavioral) that may arise while attending The University of Scranton. She assists students by assessing their needs, connecting them to resources, and working with them to foster their success. Kim earned a Master of Science in Human Resource Administration, a Master of Science in Secondary School Counseling, a Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Human Services and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Community Counseling from The University of Scranton.  Contact Kim at kimberly.curran@scranton.edu.

Pauline Palko

Pauline Palko, Administrative Assistant

Pauline Palko serves as the office assistant to the Assistant Vice President & Dean of Students, and the Dean of Students Staff. She is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the workload for the AVP/ Dean of Students. In addition, Pauline is responsible for managing the calendar of the AVP/Dean of Students. Pauline also schedules and supervises student workers in the Student Life Suite (DeNaples 201).

Pauline holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of Scranton.
