Royals Safe Together

Off-Campus Students

To ensure the health and safety of our campus and local communities, it is important for students who reside off campus, especially in the Hill Section, to adhere to the guidelines developed by the University, the CDC, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the City of Scranton.

Students living off-campus, especially in the Hill Section, are to adhere to the health and safety protocols practiced on the University campus and the government guidelines regarding COVID-19.

  • In addition, students are reminded that the expectations set forth in the Student Code of Conduct apply to behavior both on- and off-campus.
Gatherings at off-campus residences should be limited in size during the fall semester based on the ability to maintain 6-feet social distancing.
  • In all cases, gatherings should not exceed 25 people, including the residents of the apartment, but should be smaller if social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Masks and social distancing should be enforced by the residents when gatherings include individuals who do not reside in the residence.

Off campus students who have a meal plan and are in quarantine or isolation may access meals according to the procedures below:

Students directed to isolate due to Covid-19 by a University Official have two options:

  • Send a friend who is not in isolation/quarantine with their Royal Card to The DeNaples Center to get their food.
  • Send a friend who is not in isolation (but may be in quarantine) to a meal pick up location in the Quincy Ave Parking lot.  These friends may walk to this location, while keeping their distance from others and wearing a mask, to pick up food at the following times:
    • Lunch:             Daily 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
    • Dinner:            Daily 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Students directed to quarantine due to Covid-19 by a University Official also have two options:

  • Send a friend who is not in isolation/quarantine with their Royal Card to The DeNaples Center to get their food.
  • Students unable to have someone pick up their meals may access the meal pick up location in the Quincy Ave Parking lot. Quarantined students may walk to this location, while keeping their distance from others and wearing a mask, to pick up food at the following times:
    • Lunch:             Daily 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
    • Dinner:            Daily 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The person picking up the meal must bring the Royal Card(s) of all students with meal plans for whom they are picking up meals.  Students must have a valid meal plan and be in isolation or quarantine to use this option.
