Booksale A Success

The Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library held their first annual booksale to raise funds for programs and endowments on May 6, 1995. A special preview sale for members of the Friends only was held on Friday evening prior to the Saturday sale. Books which had been accumulating in the Library's basement storage, as well as donations from local publishers and faculty and staff members, were arranged on long tables in the Heritage Room of the Library. Popular fiction, children's books, and old text and reference hooks were the biggest sellers, with some shoppers carting off whole boxes of hooks for their home libraries. Volunteers from the Friends' Advisory Council Board and the Pocono Northeast Chapter of the University of Scranton Alumni Society helped to staff, set-up, and restock the tables. A profit of over fifteen hundred dollars was realized for this first-ever event.
