Podcast Studio Policies

Purpose

The Podcast Studio is available for creating audio and/or video podcast content using the equipment provided in the space.

Policies

  1. The Podcast Studio may only be used for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws as well as University policies.
  2. Content produced may not be used for commercial purposes, mass production, or resale.
  3. Content must not include unsafe, harmful, threatening, or dangerous material. Pursuant to University policy, no content may promote violence, weapons, or other prohibited materials.
  4. Content must not contain obscene, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate material. Staff, in their sole discretion, may decline or terminate any recording session.
  5. Users must not violate the intellectual property rights of others (including copyrights, trademarks, or patents.)
  6. Only authorized IDEA Center staff may manage Podcast Studio equipment.

Eligibility

  • University of Scranton students, faculty, and staff may use the Podcast Studio without incurring a fee.
  • External community members may be permitted to use the Podcast Studio when availability allows and when their use aligns with the University's educational and community-engagement mission. Such use requires prior approval from the Director of the IDEA Center, and usage fees may apply. Rates and scheduling are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Availability

The Podcast Studio is available during IDEA Center operating hours. Reservations are required and will be honored on a first-come, first-service basis, with priority given to academic projects.

Payment

  • No fee applies to University of Scranton students, faculty, or staff.
  • External community members must contact the Director of the IDEA Center to confirm eligibility, scheduling, and any applicable usage fees.

Additional Podcast Studio Rules

  • Editing software is not provided. Files must be edited outside the Podcast Studio.
  • The studio supports both live streaming and recording for later editing.
  • Maximum occupancy is six (6) individuals at a time.
  • Equipment may not be removed or altered.
  • Content produced in the studio may not be represented as officially affiliated with The University of Scranton unless approved by the University or produced with authorized University personnel.

Disclaimer

The University disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, with respect to the Podcast Studio and equipment. The University is not liable for any damages resulting from studio use or from the content produced.

Users are responsible for ensuring they hold all necessary rights to record their content and are liable for any intellectual property claims. The University does not guarantee confidentiality, data security, or specific equipment performance, and is not responsible for loss, corruption, or security of data.

Users are responsible for compliance with copyright, patent, and other intellectual property laws, including U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17). The University reserves the right to refuse use of the Podcast Studio if, in its judgment, such use would involve a violation of law.
