I think the fondest memory of Fr. Pilarz would be his address to us, the class of 2007, during our commencement when he cited Michael Scott from The Office saying, ""Ain't no party like a Scranton party 'cause a Scranton party don't stop"". He went on to invite us to, as St. Ignatius urged to, "Set the World on Fire". Over the 4 years at "The Miracle on the Mountain", I've formed some great friendships and was quite active with volunteering and campus ministry and so it was always a great experience to serve mass or be a eucharistic minister at a mass that Fr. Pilarz celebrated.
He always related to us and every mass would be packed. He believed in us and saw us as future leaders and men and women for others. A motto I always try to live up to in my daily life. Although our Scranton family mourns his loss, I cherish his words of faith, hope, love and commitment to keeping the University of Scranton a special part of our lives and all those who we met there, even closer.
Thank you Fr. Pilarz for inspiring us to live out our potential throughout all of these years later. May you rest in peace and enjoy the Scranton party with all those left before us.
The photo of us that I've included was after he celebrated mass in 2012 during our 5 year reunion weekend.
