This award is given to a faculty member who makes specific, sustained, and creative efforts to adapt classic principles of Jesuit Pedagogy in their own courses. Dr. Oliver Morgan is this years awardee.
Dr. Morgan constantly adapts the classic principles of Jesuit Pegagogy into the curriculum as well as in his research. Dr. Morgan was awarded the CASE Professor of the Year in 2008 with professional interests and goals that have led him to specialized training, clinical work, and scholarship in marital and family therapy, pastoral psychology, psychosocial oncology and issues of addiction and spirtuality. Vocational and professional interests have also led to special institutional leadership roles involving student lifestyles (alcohol & other drug abuse, sexuality, HIV) and corporate mission. Dr. Morgan's work in the area of spiritualtiy and counseling direclty correlates to his VIsiting Scholar appointments at both Boston University School of Theology and Eston Jesuit School of Theology in 1997. He became a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Forham University. In the classroom and in his new book, that will be out in Fall 2019, he meshes short clinical anecdotes with research-based material. Dr. Morgan believes that psychotherapy can be a catalyst for recovery from soul-destroying maladies of addictions and trauma.
