New Digital Services Librarian Joins Staff

Kristen Yarmey-Tylutki has joined the Weinberg Library as the Digital Services Librarian, as of July 21. In this newly created position, Kristen will work closely with library and university staff to ensure that the University of Scranton's digital initiatives are an integral part of its collections and services. Kristen Yarmey-Tylutki, Digital Services LibrarianKristen will also investigate the use of emerging technologies used to promote library services.
 
Kristen is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland College of Information Studies, having received a Master of Library Science degree with specialization in Archives and Records Management. She also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the Penn State University Eberly College of Science and Schreyer Honors College. A native of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Kristen served two graduate internships, one at the Library of the Marine Corps in Quantico,Virginia, and one at the American Association for the Advancement of Science Archives in Washington, D.C. While at the Marine Corps Archives, Kristen mounted a digital display of photos, interviews and transcripts from the Battle of Hue City, a significant conflict in the Vietnam War. A published author, Kristen wrote a History of Chemists at Pennsylvania State University, which the Weinberg Library has added to its faculty author collection. She hopes to further her research in the history of chemical education and also to study "green" libraries and archives.
 
In her free time, Kristen loves reading, long distance running, museums, all sorts of puzzles and word games, anything having to do with French culture, and spending time with her husband and their two cats.
