Library Receives $10,000 Grant from the Jesuit Community of Scranton
Brendan G. Lally, S.J., Rector of the Jesuit Community of Scranton, presented the Weinberg Memorial Library with a check for $10,000 to support and enhance its efforts to develop a collection of Jesuitana. > Full story

Once again, the Friends of the Weinberg Library have generously enabled the Library to add significantly to its collection. This year, the Friends gave a gift of $3,029 for the purchase of the following books for the Weinberg Library's collection. > Full story

The Weinberg Memorial Library conducted a Web-based User Satisfaction Survey from August 2001 to May 2002. A similar survey was conducted in the fall semester of 1997. > Full story
New Services for Distance Learners
The Weinberg Memorial Library now offers special library services to University of Scranton students who are currently enrolled in completely web-based courses offered through the University's Dexter Hanley College. > Full story
Library Adds Wilson Web to Database Collection
The premier indexing company, H.W. Wilson, better known as the publisher of standard library tools such as Reader's Guide to Periodicals, Biography Index, and Business Periodicals Index, has introduced a web-based index with links to abstracts and full-text articles. > Full story

Need some help navigating a sea of irrelevant Web sites? Looking for a few good Web sites? As mentioned in the spring 2002 Information Update, the Reference Department has begun a new web page, "Web Resources" to help students and faculty quickly find relevant Web sites for their research. > Full story
Remembering Royden B. Davis, S.J.
The Weinberg Memorial Library has lost a true friend and inspiration with the death of Royden B. Davis, S.J. A founding member and the first President of the Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library, Father Davis was an active member of the Friends' Board from 1994 until his death. > Full story
Another Sea Change Ahead for the Library
In one of the library world's surprise events of 2001, Sirsi Corporation purchased Data Research Associates (DRA), our library automation provider since June, 1993. Over the summer and fall of 2001, Library administration investigated a migration to TAOS, DRA's next generation graphical system, in development since 1996. Sirsi, after four months of intensive analysis, halted development of that product and instead moved to focus the combined research and development staffs efforts on Unicorn and a newly named academic product, Link. We are now forced to seriously investigate migrating to a different system. > Full story

The Scranton Digital Postcard Collection, mounted on the Special Collections Web site, has received a fair amount of publicity thanks to the efforts of Stan Zygmunt, Manager of Media Relations at The University of Scranton. > Full story
Library Display Commemorates Centennial of 1902 Anthracite Miners' Strike
The Heritage Room will host an exhibit titled Scranton 1902. The exhibit, a cooperative project between Special Collections and the Lackawanna Historical Society, will provide a glimpse of Scranton at the turn-of-the-century. > Full story
