More on Respondus Lockdown Browser (RLD) ...

Our (CTLE) suggestion is to create a practice quiz in your course with one or two questions. Then, enable it to " require lockdown browser". Instruct students to open the quiz and they will be prompted to download RLD before actually starting the quiz. They can then take the quiz and be assured that RLD works on their computer before taking the real quizzes. If they use the same computer to take subsequent quizzes they have a very good chance of success.

NOTE: When taking a quiz, students cannot open the RLD browser first. Also, they should not Google the license instructions and download RLD outside of Brightspace. They must navigate to the quiz using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If the quiz is configured to "require lockdown browser", Brightspace will prompt the student to install RLD or start RLD and then allow the student to begin the quiz.

Chromebooks and RLD

Chromebooks however, will not work with RLD. Students with Chromebooks will need to find another computer or iPad/other mobile device ... although we have had issues with iPads/mobile devices with Brightspace quizzes in the past. This is where the practice quiz is critical.
