Career and Graduate School Options

What kinds of jobs can you get with a neuroscience degree?

Because our program offers a lot of flexibility in both curriculum and research opportunities, students are well prepared for a wide range of careers after graduation.

Many of our alumni enter the medical field, but students have the ability and background to enter other fields as well. Here are some examples of where our alumni end up:

  • Medicine (as neurosurgeons, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, family medicine physicians, emergency medical physicians, cardiologists, physician assistants, physical therapists, nurses, and speech pathologists)
  • Dentists and orthodontists
  • Veterinarians
  • Teaching and academic research
  • Industry -- we have graduates working at institutions like Regeneron (in New York), Glaxo Smith Kline (Pennsylvania) and Ionis Pharmaceuticals (California)
  • Lawyers
  • Science writers

What About Graduate School?

By the time our students graduate, they have worked in a range of disciplines besides neuroscience -- from biology to chemistry to math. They have significant undergraduate research experience and well-developed analytical thinking skills. All of this makes them attractive candidates for various types of graduate programs.
