- The Weinberg Memorial Library has acquired a subscription for a new database called JSTOR. JSTOR, an acronym for journal storage, is a collection of 117 journals in scholarly fields such as anthropology, ecology, economics, finance, history, mathematics, philosophy, political science, science,

- Library and Gallery to Present Second Part of Leahy Rare Book Exhibit
- Weinberg Memorial Library and the University Art Gallery are pleased to announce a joint exhibit of rare books from the Edward R. Leahy collection. The exhibit will run from 4 November 2000 until 2 February 2001. > Full story
- Weinberg Library Introduces the Uniprint System for Laser Printing
- At the beginning of the Fall 2000 semester, the Weinberg Library will introduce the Uniprint System, a hardware/software system designed to control laser printing abuse, waste and rising costs for the students. > Full story

- At the recent AJCU Library Directors Annual Conference at Xavier University in Cincinnati, the Jesuit University and College Library Directors unanimously endorsed in principal The Keystone Principles and action items. > Full story
- NPLN - We're Connecting Our Community
- This fall, NPLN, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Library Network, will launch its first web-based online virtual catalog. The catalog, funded through a grant received from the Library Services and Technology Act, will provide University students, faculty, staff and patrons with the ability to simultaneously search the catalogs of the eight participating area libraries and receive consolidated, "real-time" results. > Full story

- The 2000 Friends of the Weinberg Library Book & Plant Sale was a huge success with an all-time high proceeds of $5000. > Full story

- 2000 Distinguished Author Award
- Two of the country's most popular writers, Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter Carol Higgins Clark, will receive the 2000 Distinguished Author Award from the Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library at The University of Scranton.

- EZ Proxy System Eases Off-Campus Searching
- Over the past ten years the Internet has brought sweeping changes to the way students research material. Most of the material is still found in the library, but much of the material is found online in databases. The University of Scranton provides a number of databases that not only provide information, but also the full text of the document online. > Full story
- Silver Linker Connects to Full-Text Articles
- Many patrons using the Electron Index option from the Weinberg Library's Homepage have navigated the various Silver Platter databases for finding indexing and abstracting to databases in the fields of literature, education, and psychology. MLA, ERIC, CINAHL, and PsychInfo are among the most heavily used databases on the Library's menu. The vendor who produces these databases, Silver Platter, has enhanced the usefulness of their products by introducing a feature called Silver Linker. > Full story
- PALCI Virtual Union Catalog Coming This Fall
- The PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Incorporated) Virtual Union Catalog is coming to The University of Scranton sometime this fall. With this online union catalog, patrons may search the catalogs of Bryn Mawr College, California University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie-Mellon University, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Haverford College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Kutztown University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Millersville University, Penn State, Shippensburg University, Slippery Rock University, St. Joseph's University, Swarthmore College, and the University of Pittsburgh simultaneously. > Full Story
