Graduate Admission Requirements

Welcome to The University of Scranton Office of Graduate Admissions.  Please choose your graduate program below for all necessary program requirements as well as to submit your application on-line.  Please visit the Application Instructions link for application procedures and instructions. Students applying to a campus-based graduate program must submit the following:
  • Graduate Chemistry Programs
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 2.75
      • Statement of intentions
  • Graduate Counseling Programs
    • Admission Requirements for Rehabilitation Counseling:

      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 2.75
      • Statement of intentions
      • Interview with counseling department required
      • Deadline for application submission is March 1st for admission into the following fall term

  • Graduate Education

      • Official transcripts from any College or University attended with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

      • Copy of valid U.S. teaching certificate (if applicable)
  • Graduate Health Administration Program
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 2.75
      • Statement of intentions
      • Departmental interview required
      • This program only accepts students to begin in the fall semester.
  • Graduate MBA Program
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 2.75
      • Statement of intentions
      • Official GMAT score report.  Students with 3 or more years of official, full-time work experience may be eligible to submit a solution to a case study in lieu of the GMAT.  For additional information, please contact the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  • Graduate Nursing Programs
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 3.0
      • Statement of intentions
      • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a NLNAC or CCNE accredited program
      • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania
      • Minimum of one year direct clinical nursing practice
      • Satisfactory completion of undergraduate or equivalent approved courses in basic physical assessment and statistics
  • Graduate Nurse Anesthesia Program
      • On-line application
      • Nurse Anesthesia Supplemental Packet
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 3.0.
      • Statement of intentions
      • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a NLNAC or CCNE accredited program
      • Licensed Registered nurse in the state of Pennsylvania
      • One year of Critical Care nursing experience
      • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
      • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
      • Successful completion of two courses in college chemistry
      • Satisfactory completion of undergraduate or equivalent approved courses in basic physical assessment and statistics
      • We are currently accepting applications for enrollment in the fall term of 2013. The deadline for application submission is October 1, 2012.
  • Graduate Occupational Therapy
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 2.75.
      • Statement of intentions
      • Bachelor of Science Degree in OT from an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE.
      • Must be currently practicing or eligible to practice
  • Graduate Software Engineering
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE or GMAT test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 3.0.
      • Statement of intentions
  • Graduate Theology Program
      • On-line application
      • Official transcripts from all Colleges or Universities attended
      • Three professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can evaluate your ability to perform graduate work
      • Please submit official GRE test scores if your cumulative GPA is below 2.75.
      • Writing sample; This should be an academic paper of at least 1,000 words in the humanities that explores some theologically related issue. Papers previously submitted in undergraduate classes are suitable.

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
      • The Physical Therapy department at The University of Scranton participates in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service, known as PTCAS. Applicants applying to the entry-level professional physical therapist program for the 2011 entering class will apply online using the PTCAS application. To learn more about the PTCAS application process, please visit the PTCAS web site at www.ptcas.org.

      • Pre-requisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better:
        • Biology with labs – 2 courses, 8 credits minimum
        • General Chemistry with labs – 2 courses, 8 credits minimum
        • General Physics with Labs-2 courses, 8 credits minimum
        • Mammalian/Human Physiology – 1 course, 3 credits minimum
        • General Psychology – 1 course, 3 credits minimum
        • Advanced Psychology (Childhood, Adolescence, Aging or Abnormal Psychology) – 1 course, 3 credits minimum
        • Statistics – 1 course, 3 credits minimum
