[MICRO]GRANTS: Men's Wrestling

The University of Scranton wrestling program has produced some of the most successful athletes in the University’s recent history. Despite wrestling in an area that typically produces some of the best NCAA Division III competition in the country, the Royals continue to strive for continued success.

In the program’s 40-year history, Scranton has had 13 wrestlers finish either first or second in the highly competitive Middle Atlantic Conference and equally strong Metropolitan Wrestling Conference. Fifteen times, Scranton wrestlers have reached the NCAA championships and four Royals won National Catholic Championships.

Scranton annually competes in approximately 14 events in the Mid-Atlantic region, ranging from dual meets to invitational tournaments with as many as 10-15 teams. The season begins in early November and runs through late February with most events taking place on weekends.

Your gift to University of Scranton wrestling helps support equipment and training upgrades, uniform purchases and travel and meal expenses while helping the Royals continue to chase their goal of continued success.

“Hard work equals results, and we’re starting to see that mindset pay off,” said head coach Al Russamano. “Building a winning tradition here at Scranton takes hard work on and off the mat, and your donation will help us continue to put our athletes in the best position to be successful.”
