Letters to Sala Exhibit
"Letters to Sala: A Young Woman's Life in Nazi Labor Camps" is a striking exhibition reproducing the letters, postcards, photographs, and personal documents that Sala Garncarz managed to save during five brutal years in Nazi work camps during World War II. > Full story
Additions to Jesuit Collection
Thanks to the generosity of The Friends of Weinberg Library the Hill-Davis Jesuit rare book collection continues to grow. The Friends acquired three titles for the collection this year. > Full story
Windhover Yearbook Now Online
Digital access to Special Collections is increasing with the debut of the Windhover online in time to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the current University yearbook. > Full story
Records Management Program
For the past couple years the Library has been involved in the creation of a Records Management program for the University. Under the leadership of Dean Charles Kratz and University Council Abby Byman, a committee has been working to put together a records management policy for all departments across the University. > Full story
Abraham Lincoln Exhibit
Abraham Lincoln will be the focus of a second traveling exhibit and a conference during the bicentennial anniversary of his birth. "Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation," an American Library Association exhibit, will visit the Heritage Room from February 8 through March 20, 2009. > Full story
Graduate Academic Integrity Tutorial Developed
To help undergraduates gain an understanding of plagiarism and academic integrity a tutorial was developed and implemented during the summer and fall of 2007; 97% of the freshmen worked through the tutorial and signed the Honor Pledge. > Full story

Information Literacy Grants Announced
New Digital Services Librarian Joins Staff
Kristen Yarmey-Tylutki, Digital Services LibrarianKristen Yarmey-Tylutki has joined the Weinberg Library as the Digital Services Librarian, as of July 21. In this newly created position, Kristen will work closely with library and university staff to ensure that the University of Scranton's digital initiatives are an integral part of its collections and services. > Full story
Katie Duke Retires
Professor Katie DukeKatie S. Duke retired in August after serving as Coordinator for Information Literacy for the past twenty-three years. Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma and reared in Potterville, California, Katie attended California Baptist College where she first found her love for libraries while employed as a page in the school's library. > Full story
New Public Services Librarian
Donna Mazziotti, Evening Reference LibrarianAssistant Professor Donna Mazziotti joined the Library faculty in March as the Evening/Weekend Public Services Librarian. In addition to staffing the Reference Desk and teaching information literacy, she is the Virtual Reference Coordinator and the bibliographer for the departments of English and Sociology/Criminal Justice as well as for the Women's Studies Concentration. > Full story

Assistive Technology Available in the CTLE
The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) offers Instructional Technology Services to faculty and students in the teaching and learning environment.
