A Program to Meet Your Needs

The University of Scranton's Accounting curriculum, taught by a faculty consisting of active researchers and experts, could best be described not by its requirements and structure, but by the opportunities it provides.

To meet the demands of the global business environment, the Accounting Department oversees a variety of programs to meet our students' objectives, including an undergraduate, four-year program with three tracks, and Combined BS/MBA PRogram.

Four-Year General Accounting Program

This program provides the bedrock for students interested in accounting careers in industry, government and other non-profit organizations,s pursuing graduate studies or operating their own businesses.  An accounting background can also open doors to a multitude of career paths because students come to understand all aspects of business.  This program is appropriate for students aspiring to earn professional certifications such as Certified Management Accountant and/or Certified Internal Auditor.

Four-Year Forensic Accounting Program

To meet the demand for accounting professionals with specialized knowledge in the areas of fraud examination and litigation support, the University offers a popular and innovative forensic accounting program.  This program includes course work in criminology and white collar crime, as well as financial statement analysis. It is appropriate for students interested in becoming a certified Fraud Examiner and/or working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Four-Year Accounting Information Systems Program

Our accounting information systems program provides students with a strong and integrated knowledge of accounting, as well as the evolving information technologies needed to implement and manage accounting information systems (AIS).  There are abundant opportunities for accounting professionals who are capable of assessing risks associated with specific technology deployments in the corporate, public accounting and non-profit sectors.  Students enrolled in this program are encouraged to pursue professional certifications such as the Certified Information System Professional (CISSP), the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
