Philanthropy Board Of Education

The Philanthorpy Board of Education is a great way to get involved with Students Helping Students. Students Helping Students raises money for the Student Textbook Scholarship Fund for incoming freshman in need, but we also promote education and raise awareness of student philanthropy on campus. For students to be able to give back to something, they must be educated on the cause and understand why it is important to them, their school and future students at The University of Scranton.

The Philanthropy Board of Education consists of Scranton students who volunteer their time to speak to their fellow studdents about why it is important to give back and how it has a great impact on our school. Presentations are pre-made by the Students Helping Students team and only 5-10 minutes in length. Students Helping Students will help give the presentation but it is important to us that we have other students to volunteer to help spread the word. The Philanthropy Board of Education is something students can relate to because it is run by students and it affects students.

To apply, students must:

  • Be in good academic standing with the university
  • Be able to set aside time for meetings with SHS and for presentations
  • Be comfortable speaking in front of others
  • Show an interest in why it is important to give back to students at the university

To apply to be on the Philanthropy Board of Education, email studentshelpingstudents@scranton.edu.
