Laura A. Dickson

Laura A. Dickson was born in Albion, New York to Leslie and Sue Allport. Laura has five siblings: Marion Allport-Woodworth, James Leslie Allport, Judith Allport-Klatt and Amanda Allport.  In 1975, Laura moved to Tunkhannock, where she attended Keystone College. Here, she met and married James R. Dickson II.  Married for 33 years, Jim and Laura have one daughter, Sharon Dickson-Jacoby, married to Howard Jacoby IV.

Laura holds the office of Auditor in Wyoming County. Laura was appointed to office in 2010.  In 2011, Laura ran a successful campaign and was elected to the office for a 4-year term. She was reelected in 2015.  Laura is the Legislative Representative for the State Auditors association. She serves on the Pa State Association of Elected County Officials. As member of PSAECO Laura serves on the Legislated Committee where she has direct contact with the Pa House and Senate committees, reviewing all current legislation before the committees. As a member of PSAECO she is also on the County Code rewrite committee where all code codes are being reviewed and updated. Laura is an active member, and past-president of the Wyoming County Democratic Women’s Society and a member of the Wyoming County Democrat Committee.
Laura’s 27-year business career centered upon many management positions. Prior to running for public office, Laura held the position of Divisional Vice President at an institutional pharmacy company. Her many duties included being responsible for over 300 accounts located in 38 states, the fiduciary responsibilities of a multi-million dollar budget and supervisory responsibilities of a professional staff of 200 people.  Laura was also a small business owner.  She owned and operated 3 Fitness Centers located throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.

Laura has always had a strong commitment to volunteerism.  Her many volunteering outlets include Chairperson of Special Programs and Events, Chairperson of Youth and Ministry, Pastor-Parish Committee and Jr. Church Teacher at East Lemon United Methodist Church, Board member Tunkhannock Public Library, serves on the Pa. Business and Professional Women’s Pac committee and a member of the Tunkhannock, Pa. Kiwanis.
