Academic Attire

To participate in the Commencement Ceremony and Baccalaureate Mass, all graduates must wear proper academic attire: caps, gowns, and hoods for Commencement and robe for the Mass. The charge for the academic attire is included in the graduation fee. Distribution of academic attire and announcements will take place in the DeNaples Center Ballroom during the following times:

April 13, 2015 (Monday) 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
April 14, 2015 (Tuesday) 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

After Grad Finale academic attire can be picked up at the University Bookstore in the DeNaples Center. Doctoral attire is special ordered and will not be available for pickup or shipment until after May 12, 2015. Normal Bookstore hours are:

Monday - Thursday:   9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday:   9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saturday:   10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Bookstore hours for the week of Commencement:

Tuesday - Thursday:   9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Friday:   9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday:   8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Male candidates for Master's degrees should wear suit coats under their academic gowns due to the shortness of the sleeve length. Since the sleeves on doctoral robes are longer, suit coats for male doctoral candidates are optional. Both master and doctoral candidates will find it helpful to bring a hair or hat pin to help secure the academic cap.

If you are away doing an internship, in the Online Degree Program, or you will not attend Commencement and would like your cap and gown mailed to you (U.S. addresses only), please send a written request with a check for $5.30 to cover shipping and handling to:

University of Scranton Bookstore
DeNaples Center
900 Mulberry Street
Scranton, PA 18503

Be sure to include your height and weight as well as your name, address, phone, and email address. Requests should be received by May 8, 2015 to ensure sufficient time for shipment.

If you need your cap and gown sent to an address outside the United States, please contact the Bookstore Manager at (570) 941-7454 prior to graduation to make arrangements.
