Dr. Wright teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs and has clinical experience in community health, hospice, and medical-surgical nursing. She has practiced as a hospice nurse for over 15 years and also worked as a medical-surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist at a local hospital. Currently, Dr. Wright maintains clinical practice as a hospice Nurse Practitioner and as a volunteer Family Nurse Practitioner in area free clinics. She is the founder of the ‘Pushing On: Support for Moms’ perinatal loss support group.

Dr. Wright has an active scholarly agenda and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on end-of-life care, bereavement, and nursing education and regularly presents her research at national and international conferences. She has authored book chapters on research methods, grief, and perinatal loss. Additionally, Dr. Wright has published two books; the first is a coedited book on perinatal and pediatric loss and the second is on hospice nursing.
