Leonard Champney

Dr. Champney joined the Political Science Department in February, 1979. He holds a BS degree in Secondary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and a PhD in Political Science from Rutgers University.

Teaching interests: His teaching areas are American Government and Politics; US Congress; Political Parties, Elections, and Interest Groups; Environmental Policy; and Political Science Research Methods.

Research interests: He has published academic journal articles in PS: Political Science and Politics, The Public Administration Review, Teaching Political Science: Politics in Perspective, and The Water Resources Bulletin. He is the author of a textbook, Introduction to Quantitative Political Science, HarperCollins College Publishers, 1995.

Additional information: He was born in Schenectady, NY and relocated to El Paso, TX at the age of 8. He enjoys watching news, sports, and movies on television. He also likes to travel.
