Save the date for the Scranton Day of Service: Royals Give Back Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Through meaningful service projects in various regions, this initiative engages alumni, parents and friends from around the nation in shared service that demonstrates the life-changing and enduring power of a Jesuit education. This is your chance to be #Royals4Others. All alumni, parents, families, friends and current students are welcome to join!

    The Scranton Club of the Chesapeake

  • The Scranton Club of the Chesapeake Day of Service: Bread & Cheese Creek Cleanup
    • Join University of Scranton alumni, parents, students and friends as we volunteer
      in the cleanup of the Historic Bread and Cheese Creek.
      This event is in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Annual Project Clean Stream and
      American River's Nation River Cleanup as well as Reclaim the Bay!

      Lunch, snacks and gloves will be provided. This is a family friendly event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup through a variety of jobs.

  • The Scranton Club of Lehigh Valley

  • Allentown Rescue Mission in Allentown, PA
    • The Allentown Rescue Mission has been serving the needs of the homeless and needy in the Lehigh Valley for more than 100 years. The Mission provides rescue, rehabilitation and restoration for homeless men in crisis.

      Time of service project: 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

      Location: 355 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA

      Immediately following the project Rev. Mark Searles '08 will celebrate Mass for volunteers and others from the alumni community who want to join at  the chapel at Central Catholic High School, 301 N. 4th Street, Allentown.

      Miscellaneous information: On the day of the event, our group will arrive at 11:00 a.m., prepare the meal, serve the men at 12:30 p.m.; do some minor clean up and finish around 1:30. Those who are not cooking and serving will participate in a project to stock shelves in the Mission pantry.  All volunteers will need to fill out a volunteer form and bring to the event.

      Volunteers will work in stations to inspect, sort and package donations. The Giving Factory is a warehouse environment and it is not climate controlled. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed toed shoes and layered clothing. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a gently-used item to donate.

  • City Harvest: Bed-Stuy Mobile Market
    • Saturday, April 1, 2017
      Time: 8:45 a.m.-Noon

      Join University of Scranton alumni, parents, students and friends as we volunteer with City Harvest at Bed-Stuy Mobile Market. Volunteers will be stationed at 3-4 market tables, each supplied with thousands of pounds of fresh produce that they will help distribute to eligible market-goers. As the market-goers stop by each table, volunteers greet them and then weigh and bag the produce. All food is distributed free of charge.

      Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 years of age to participate. The Mobile Markets take place outdoors, rain or shine. We stress that it is important to wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothes. As this is a hands-on activity and there is no secure place to leave your property, it is recommended that you travel light.

      Volunteers are asked to bring a $1 donation for the food bank.

      Miscellaneous information: Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks including: sort and re-pack food items; stock the shelves with food; help in Kathleen's Closet thrift shop; help assemble fundraising mailings; sort and package new clothes for children in the Kids Division; stock the shelves with school supplies in the Tools 4 Schools Resource Center.
