Regional Online Union Catalog Funded

As part of a cooperative effort to build a regional union catalog and facilitate resource sharing in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Bibliographic Center (NEPBC) has been awarded Library Services & Technology Act funding to purchase the software and the web server required to establish a regional online union catalog. Using OCLC's WebZ software will create a regional online union catalog of eight libraries in Northeastern Pennsylvania. This regional online union catalog will provide residents and students of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties, an estimated 556,349 individuals. with access to the area's 1,409,622 plus volumes. OCLC's WebZ software will provide users with a common interface and a single point of web access to the area's multiple online catalogs. The ability to Compare area holdings will also contribute to regional collection development activities.

Participating libraries will include: College Misericordia Library, King's College Library, Luzerne County Community College Library, Marywood University Library, Osterhout Free Library, Scranton Pubic Library, University of Scranton Library, and Wilkes University Library. Look for this new catalog in the near future.
