Nicaragua Faith and Service Trip

Nicaragua is both the largest and the poorest Central American country.   Subject to prolonged civil war and natural disasters, nearly half of the population currently lives below the poverty line with approximately 80% of the population living on less than $2 per day.

The Jesuit Center offers a yearly service trip to Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, to offer faculty and staff the opportunity to interact directly with the poor to build a home and offer structured time for children.

In cooperation with Hand in Hand Ministries and its Pathway to Change Program, University personnel spend a week building a home with a family in the morning and providing the opportunity for the students in the program to play sports and engage in various physical activities.

This year’s service trip will take place from March 15, 2015, to March 22, 2015.
