Information Update - Fall 2007

From the Library Dean

Welcome to the 2007/2008 academic year. During summer 2007 the Library and CTLE launched its Scholarly Research and Academic Integrity Tutorial. Taken by all freshmen and transfer students each summer before beginning classes, the tutorial is designed to educate each student about the importance of academic integrity in lifelong learning. It promotes academic integrity by increasing students' awareness of the issues and offering dilemmas/strategies to protect themselves from academic dishonesty situations. Faculty can use it as an educational resource to supplement their classroom discussions on academic integrity. For access, please use: http://academic.scranton.edu/department/wml/acadtutorial.html
My thanks to Georgetown University Libraries for allowing us to adapt their tutorial.

This fall, the Library introduces Innovative Interface's Research Pro, a next-generation federated-search tool. Research Pro uses sophisticated technologies to provide a rich and highly usable environment for searching across library-selected resources. This powerful new tool provides a tabbed-browse display that groups results by target resource and employs Innovative's smart-search algorithm for efficient delivery of information from subscription databases. We look forward to your feedback.
