The Only Constant is Change ... Library Databases
With more than 125 separate databases listed on the library's A to Z List of Databases page, of one thing you can be sure - there will be changes to the library databases. Changes that happened since the end of the last academic year can be categorized as follows: databases that are no longer available or will be gone within the next year, new databases, databases that have changed vendor platform and enhancements to the existing vendor platforms. > Full story
Library Develops Assessment Plan for Information Literacy
The Weinberg Memorial Library has developed an assessment plan in order to measure the quality and the effectiveness of its Information Literacy Program and the contributions that this program makes to enhance student learning. This plan is based on the concept of assessment-as-learning, which places the focus of information literacy instruction on student learning rather than on content. > Full Story
New Cataloging/Metadata Librarian Joins Staff
New Cataloging/Metadata LibrarianSheli McHugh joined the staff of the Weinberg Memorial Library as the cataloging/metadata librarian, as of June 1. As head of this department, Sheli is responsible not only for taking on the traditional role as head cataloger, recently left vacant due to the retirement of Donna Ramos, but she will also be exploring ways to integrate appropriate emerging technologies into current cataloging practices. > Full story
New Coordinator of Media Resources Center
New Media Resources CoordinatorSharon Walsh Finnerty is the new coordinator of the Media Resources Center for the Weinberg Library, having assumed this position as of May 2010. Finnerty began her affiliation with the library when she was hired as evening/weekend circulation clerk in 2003. She moved to the cataloging department, where she served as cataloging clerk, a position she held until May, when she succeeded Karen Heckman, who recently retired from the University. > Full story
