A photo of Director of the Office of Student Retention and Completion, Nick TruncalePrior to becoming the university's first Director of Student Retention and Completion, Truncale was a faculty specialist in the Physics and Engineering Department and Interim Coordinator of General Education Assessment as well as a College of Arts and Sciences Assessment Fellow working with the Office of Educational Assessment (OEA).

He brings industry experience to the university, having worked as a systems engineer at Lockheed Martin on a complex satellite system and as a technical instructor at the Joint Cyber Analysis Course at Corry Naval Station in Pensacola FL where he instructed the programming module for enlisted personnel attaining the CTN (Cytological Technician) rating. For the OEA, he served as the Director of the Provost Assessment Scholars special program and designed and implemented campus wide General Education Assessment Projects. Prof. Truncale is an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Physics and Engineering and Department of Mathematics.

boysTruncale graduated from the University of Scranton in 2006 with a B.S. in  Physics and in 2007 with a M.S. in Education.  His expertise in technical analysis combined with his knowledge and relationships within the university community serves him well in this new role.  A native of Scranton, PA, he graduated from Scranton High School in 2002 and knew the University of Scranton was the right fit for him.  He now resides in Roaring Brook Twp, PA where he spends most of his free time with his son (second from left) and his two nephews. "The Boys", as we are known, spend a lot of time together going on trips and adventures, playing sports, going fishing, going to Penn State football games (sorry Scranton...but we don't have a football team!) and enjoying Northeast Pennsylvania.
