University Students Earn Service Awards

Six University of Scranton students have been recognized as AmeriCorps Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania for 2010-2011. The award honors students who have committed to complete 300 hours of individual service in the community during the academic year. This is the third consecutive year that University of Scranton students have been honored with this award.

Zalon Inducted as American Academy of Nursing Fellow

The American Academy of Nursing inducted 116 nurse leaders, including Margarete Lieb Zalon, Ph.D., professor of nursing at The University of Scranton, as Fellows during the academy’s 37th annual meeting and conference on Nov. 13.

The University of Scranton Business Club named Daniel P. Mahoney, Ph.D., professor of accounting, as the Kania School of Management (KSOM) Professor of the Year for the second time since 2006.

Crew Team Takes First in Regatta Heat

For the first time in University of Scranton history, the men's crew team placed first in its heat during the 2010 Frostbite Regatta held Nov. 13 in Philadelphia.

Scranton Participates in Nationwide Screening of ‘Gasland’

The University of Scranton will join with colleges and universities across the United States in a national screening of the Sundance award-winning “Gasland,” a documentary exploring domestic natural gas drilling. A live webcast question and answer session with director Josh Fox will take place immediately following the film.

University of Scranton Hosts Third Annual Diversity Fair

Nearly 200 students, faculty, staff and community members gathered in the Moskovitz Theater of the DeNaples Center to hear Antonio Flores, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, share his thoughts on social paradoxes in today’s modern world. Dr. Flores offered the keynote lecture at the third annual Diversity Fair sponsored by the Office of Equity and Diversity on Nov. 4.
