Professor Jay Nathan Endows Scholarship at University of Scranton

            Former University of Scranton professor and the recipient of multiple Senior Fullbright Awards, Jay Nathan, Ph.D., of Clarks Summit, endowed The Professor Dr. Jay Nathan, Ph.D., Scholarship at the University to provide financial assistance to graduate students enrolled in The Kania School of Management who are from Mongolia, Thailand, India, Poland or the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan or Uzbekistand. The first recipient of the award for 2012-2013 is Nathawut Suksomanat, a graduate student from Chonburi, Thailand.

            A professor for more than 35 years, Dr. Nathan was a tenured faculty of Kania School of Management at The University of Scranton from 1983 to 1993. He currently teaches as a tenured professor of management at St. John’s University, Queens, N.Y.

            Dr. Nathan received Fulbright Senior Scholar Awards: to Thailand in 1991-92, to Poland in 1998-99 and 1999-2000, to Kazakhstan in 2002-03, 2004 and 2005; and to Mongolia in 2008. He is the author/co-author of several books and has published more than one hundred articles in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings. His recent book, published by the University of Scranton Press, is “Kazakhstan’s New Economy, Post-Soviet Central Asian Industries.” He earned an MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.

            The Nathan Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student meeting the eligibility requirements.
