Faculty Awarded Summer Research Grants

Six faculty members have been selected by The University of Scranton's Faculty Development Board to receive summer 2009 grants.

Cristina Gschwandter, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy, will study Michel Henry's Words of Christ.

Gary Kwiecinski, Ph.D., professor of biology, will research Natural History and Biogeography of Mammals of the Lesser Antilles: Morphometrics of Museum Specimens."

Ann Pang-White, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy, will research "Femininity and Zhu Xi's Philosophy: A Hermeneutic Interpretation of Li and Qi."

Meghan Ashlin Rich, Ph.D., assistant professor of sociology/criminal justice, will study "Change in the Electric City: Community Views on Downtown Revitalization in Scranton."

Ileana Szymanski, Ph.D. candidate, assistant professor of philosophy, will research "Philosophy of Food: How our choices with respect to food creates habits that can be mirrored in choices we make to find happiness in every-day life."

Janice Voltzow, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Biology Department, will research "Snails on Acid: Functional Morphology and Ecology of Marine Gastropods."
