Mosaic Reveals America’s Immigration History

11/04/08

In an effort to reinforce the fact that America is a nation made up of immigrants, The University of Scranton is creating a mosaic of photos submitted by students, faculty and staff of family members who were immigrants to America.
The mosaic of more than 150 photos, representing 39 countries, will be unveiled at noon on Nov. 19 in the Pearn Auditorium of Brennan Hall.  The event, planned by the university’s Education for Justice Office, is free of charge and open to the public.
In order to facilitate and focus the justice conversation on campus, Scranton’s Education for Justice Office annually selects a theme. The theme selected for the 2008-09 academic year is immigration. The immigration mosaic is among the many campus initiatives incorporating this theme.
For additional information, call Mary Anne Foley, C.N.D., Ph.D., coordinator of the Education for Justice Office and associate professor of theology/religious studies, at 941-4051.
