2018 Frank J. O'Hara Awards

Eight alumni were honored with the Frank J. O'Hara Distinguished Alumni award and one alumna was honored with the Frank J. O'Hara Recent Graduate Award on Friday, June 8, 2018 during Reunion Weekend. The O’Hara Award is the highest award bestowed jointly by the University and the Alumni Society for outstanding achievement in a particular field or endeavor. The O'Hara Recent Graduate Award is presented to an alumnus/a who has graduated within the past ten years and has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to service for others in their personal or professional achievements and embodies Scranton's Catholic and Jesuit values.

Frank J. O'Hara Distinguished Alumni Award

The Frank J. O'Hara Distinguished Alumni Award is the prestigious annual award presented by the University and its Alumni Society, honoring select alumni who embody Scranton's Catholic, Jesuit experience and who have achieved distinction in their professional or personal endeavors.  Honorees are selected based on the nominees' commitment to Ignatian values and their pursuit of professional and personal excellence. The award was established in 1981 to honor the memory of Frank J. O'Hara, past administrator, who served The University of Scranton for over 53 years.

 

Frank J. O'Hara Recent Graduate Award

The Frank J. O'Hara Recent Graduate Award is presented to an alumnus/a who has graduated within the past 10 years. The recipient(s) will have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to service for others in their personal or professional achievements, and embody Scranton's Catholic and Jesuit values.   


Alumni Award for Loyalty and Service

The Alumni Loyalty and Service Award is presented annually to a member of the senior class who has demonstrated meritorious efforts in enhancing club activities, promoting good will on campus, establishing rapport with the community, exhibiting academic excellence and rendering exceptional service to the University. Each Spring, members of the University community (faculty and professional staff) are invited to submit nominations from the College of Arts & Sciences, the Kania School of Management and the Panuska College of Professional Students. The Alumni Society Advisory Board reviews the nominations and chooses the recipient. The award is presented at Class Night during Commencement Weekend.
