MOSAIC: Meaningful Opportunity for Student Access, Inclusion and Community

MOSAIC building meaningful opportunities for student access, inclusion, and community!

What is the MOSAIC Program?

The MOSAIC Program invites  new students who identify as a person of color, multi-racial, or from a diverse ethnic/cultural background to apply and come to campus the Thursday, prior to first-year move in to connect with peers, upper-division student leaders serving as "Connectors", and campus and local resources to support social network development, community-building, and campus and local-area connection.  The day-and-a-half long program will feature a dinner with participants and their families and guests, social activities, a campus resource tour, a Downtown Scranton tour, and candid conversations with faculty, staff and administrators and upper division students of color.  Our aim is to assist you in accessing resources, feeling included, and providing opportunities to help you build a community, so you can start feeling at home on campus and in Scranton!

When is it held?

Students participating in the MOSAIC program will move in between 11:30am-1:30pm on Thursday, August 22nd (and move into their Fall housing assignment for residential students). The program will start with afternoon sessions for both participants and family and guests. Participants, familly, and guests will be invited to join us for our program dinner. Family and guests will get to do farewell with their students. Participants will then continue to be engaged in sessions starting at 6pm on August 22nd through the evening of August 23rd. A final schedule will be provided to participants closer to the event.

Who can participate and what is the cost?

MOSAIC is a FREE program, there is no cost for students participating! We do ask that if you register, you commit to coming.  We invite any first-year student who identifies as a student of color to register and begin to build social and community connections with peers of color.  You will be able to engage with upper-division students of color, as well as faculty, staff, and administrators all around campus.
